Brief Introduction:
PT-141 (Bremelanotide) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analogue of α-MSH for laboratory research only. It selectively activates central MC3R and MC4R melanocortin receptors, with weaker pigmentation effect compared with MT-2. It regulates sexual arousal and desire through central nervous system pathways, independent of peripheral vascular relaxation mechanisms. Widely used in neuroendocrine, sexual behavior and melanocortin signaling research.
Main Research Applications:
  1. Neuroendocrine sexual function research: Applied in animal models to study central pathways regulating sexual desire, arousal and sexual dysfunction mechanisms in both male and female subjects.
  2. Melanocortin receptor signaling research: Suitable for comparative analysis of MC3R/MC4R signal transduction, contrasted with broad-spectrum agonist MT-2.
  3. Appetite & energy metabolism research: Used to explore central satiety regulation and MC4R-mediated energy balance physiological processes.
  4. Central nervous system neuroinflammation research: For preliminary study of melanocortin peptide-mediated brain anti-inflammatory pathways.
