Name: Humanin
Storage Conditions: Store at -20℃ in a dry, dark place; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Brief Introduction:
Humanin is the first discovered mitochondrial-derived peptide (MDP) with 24 amino acids, exclusively for laboratory research. It was initially isolated from surviving neurons of Alzheimer’s disease brain tissue, featuring broad-spectrum cytoprotective activity. It directly binds pro-apoptotic protein Bax to block Bax translocation to mitochondria, suppress cytochrome c release and reduce cellular apoptosis induced by Aβ, oxidative stress and hypoxia. It activates PI3K/Akt, STAT3 and ERK signaling pathways to stabilize mitochondrial function, clear intracellular ROS and upregulate antioxidant proteins. Meanwhile, it improves insulin sensitivity, reduces visceral fat accumulation, protects cardiomyocytes and alleviates age-related cognitive decline. Humanin expression gradually decreases with aging; it is widely applied in neurodegeneration, mitochondrial aging, cardiometabolism and anti-apoptosis mechanism research.
